Currently the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have taken the world by storm, however,
Apple has recently been criticized for its lack of ingenuity and the iPhone 6
Plus’s questionable flexibility. So we thought it’d be the opportune moment to take
a look at the best handsets of 2014 so far.
According to Samsung; the Galaxy S5 can be defined by one word: evolution. The S5 is one of the
iPhone’s top rivals. The S5 has a sleek, lightweight and waterproof casing. The
camera has ‘evolved’ to give clearer and faster shots. The fitness-tracking
abilities of the S5 are enhanced by a more powerful Health app and a dedicated
heart rate monitor on the reverse of the handset. A fingerprint scanner (just
like Apple) adds extra security. This handset is definitely one of the best
Android challengers on the market.
After HTC’s rough time of late with competitors storming the market the HTC
One’s sequel; the HTC One (M8) - marks a spectacular return. The handset is crafted
from high-grade metal, the (M8) feels like a premium phone which many Android
handsets lack, and the robust Snapdragon 801 chipset ensures a quick and
seamless performance. It also boasts a 5.0 inch, Full HD 1080p display, dual
front-facing HTC BoomSound™ speakers and a battery capable of lasting up to 20
hours of talk time for 3G and up to 496 hours on standby. This is arguably
HTC's best phone to date, and a viable alternative if you crave Apple-like
build quality but want to stick to Google's OS.
The LG G3 ticks all of the boxes when it comes to a perfect smartphone; A
classic, metallic body that is light-weight, powerful innards and a high
resolution 5.5-inch QHD screen, which offers even more detail than your typical
screen displays. To top it off, there are other benefits such as a micro SD card
slot and hassle-free wireless charging which frees you from plugging in, the
battery density has also been increased to 3,000mAh to give a longer lasting
usage time. Also, the battery is removable so you can always keep a spare
battery on standby. And then there's the camera, which is supported by
"laser autofocus" which uses infrared to speed up the process of
getting that perfect snap.
Whenever Apple launches a new phone the entire planet comes to a
standstill, and this year was no exception. The screen is now 4.7-inches in
size, and positively dwarfs its predecessor, the iPhone 5s. However, it's still
a bit more manageable in the palm than many Android phones, and of course comes
with Apple's trademark build quality. A new processor means even more speed,
and the sharp edges have disappeared in favor of rounded ones. The iPhone 6
Plus is the same deal, but with a much larger screen.
